Personal Information
Hi everyone, my name is Karen! I am a student attending Rutgers University, and am majoring in Information Technology and Informatics (ITI). My minor is Digital Communications, Information, and Media (DCIM). I have taken a few courses within the Computer Science degree, but ultimately found my passion within ITI. I am interested in all the paths that ITI allows, from cybersecurity to game design, I feel that there is never a moment where you run out of things to learn. I am also a hands-on type of learner, so I take in information given to me, but I really absorb the knowledge when I apply it to tasks or projects in front of me.
Interests
There are several things that I love, which include going to the beach, reading, drinking boba, and exploring nature. I live right next to the beach, so the beach isn’t just my favorite place, but it is also my home. Reading is an activity I love to do and I am always trying to find new books to read. One of my favorite books is The Book Thief. I have also read many books that were written in other languages and were translated to English. The most enjoyable part is getting to visualize their writing style and how different they can be compared to works that are originally in English.
I love to drink boba – if I could drink it for all my meals, I would. I haven’t really been to many places in the world, but to make up for it, every time I’m in a new setting, I look around as much as I could because I believe there is always that hidden gem to find.
My Family
I am a child of three, with a younger sister and a younger brother. My parents own a Chinese restaurant, so we grew up surrounded by many amazing dishes. And being by my family for almost all my life, I always share everything with them.
